Jan 2007
Tom McGrath was educated at Rockwell College in Co Tipperary, and later studied law at UCD and the Incorporated Law Society. He was a partner in a number of large law firms in Dublin before establishing his own legal practice in 2001. He was appointed as a Notary Public in 2005.Capitalising on a number of business and personal links to Spain and the huge interest in overseas property by Irish investors, Tom quickly established a niche service for clients wishing to buy property in there.
Through his practice, he set up more than 20 associate offices in Spain. More recently, he extended the service to other parts of the world and now has a large network of overseas associates working with him to safeguard the interests of clients wishing to invest in property overseas, acting on their behalf with a virtually perfect success rate.
Due to strong rising demand, Tom has now extended his services to markets in the UK, Portugal, Madeira Island, Cape Verde Islands, France, Germany, Poland, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Morocco, Montenegro, Italy, Florida, Mexico, Panama, Brazil and the Dominican Republic.
He has written numerous articles for Irish and UK magazines and newspapers on legal matters relating to overseas properties. He has also lectured at the Law Society of Ireland, both to solicitors and trainee solicitors, and at various property seminars. He provides the backend legal support for various property programmes on TV3, and appears at numerous trade and public seminars and exhibitions to help investors understand the legal implications of investing in foreign property. In December 2006, McGrath was awarded the "Ireland-Spain Economic Association Annual Award", presented to the company for its significant contribution to trade links between Ireland and Spain.
Tom is married (to a Spanish woman) and lives in Dublin with their two children. A fluent Spanish speaker and keen enthusiast of all Hispanic-related matters, he is a former president of the Ireland-Spain Economic Association (ISEA) and continues to be a council member.
