Tom McGrath established his legal practice in 2001 after a career practicing as a litigation solicitor. Soon after, he established a niche service for clients wishing to buy property in Spain.

My career: I have made many important business and diplomatic contacts, particularly in Spain. This encouraged me to see if I could assist people doing business and investing abroad. Initially the focus lay with Spain. Then we were able to expand the service into countries such as the UK, Portugal, France, Germany, Poland, Turkey and Brazil, to name just a few.

Starting up: I was very fortunate in that many clients were loyal to me when I set up on my own. Nevertheless, it is an enormous step and a huge challenge to start out by oneself. My business has been much more successful than I had initially anticipated. However, given the current economic climate, we are adapting in order to keep the business going strong. We also offer domestic legal services, including litigation, commercial law, health and safety employment law, family law and tax advice amongst other things. I was also appointed as a Notary Public last year, which allows me to authenticate documents for use in foreign jurisdictions.

Client base: A broad spectrum of clients from every sector of life - from professional investors to single people.

Company philosophy: To provide a useful service to clients and to allow them to achieve what they wish to do, be it investing in a holiday home, commercial property, or land. We want to offer them the highest level of protection and ensure that their best interests are looked after, giving them peace of mind throughout.
