Personal Injury

We advise on all aspects of Personal Injury matters

Personal Injuries Assessment Board (PIAB)

PIAB is an independent government body which assesses the amount of compensation due to a person who has suffered a personal injury due to motor vehicle, workplace and Public Liability accidents.

An accident which causes injury can have many different medical, emotional and financial repercussions on the person or people involved. Whether it happens on the road, at work or even going about your normal business, an accident, through no fault of your own, can have significant consequences for you, your family and friends.

Before commencement of court proceedings involving a Personal Injury all claims must be submitted to the Personal Injuries Assessment Board (PIAB). PIAB can only issue assessments in cases where there is no issue as to liability. There is no oral hearing, as in a court case and it reaches its decisions on the basis of documentary evidence only, most notably medical reports.

Once and Award is made, we can advise if we are of the view that it is sufficient or not. You may then have the option of issuing Court proceedings. However, before doing so, we would advise you thoroughly on the consequences and risks involved in doing so.
